Respected Chief Minister,
It is extremely shocking and disgusting to know that Mr. Santhana Pandian, Deputy superintendent of Police, Dharmapuri District, assaulted teachers and graduates for democratically and peacefully protesting against the lack of applications for teacher qualification that TN government is conducting.
Especially shocking was the fact how he assaulted a woman, caught her by neck and threw her on the ground, while she tried to interfere her husband being beaten and dragged by the same policeman. This shows the lack of respect for basic human rights and for women by a top policeman in your administration. Being a woman Chief Minister, we expect strict action against such behavior and send a clear message to people that your administration is friend of the people.
We demand that:
1. Mr. Santhana Pandian, Deputy Superintendent of Police, be suspended immediately and disciplinary action be initiated against him.
2. Police department officially apologize to the couple and all the graduates and teachers who were assaulted and harassed on that day.
3. CM office sends an announcement to all police stations not to harass or beat civilians and treat them with respect.
